Intent: NEXTbuilding Forum is intended to create a pan-association vehicle linking NARI and BRAG to educate, encourage, and inspire fellow building industry colleagues. It will reach out to them in whatever capacity they work and in whichever organizations they are members about all things green and sustainable (a.k.a., high performance) pertaining to Residential Design and Building. Joining forces will permit us to supercharge our results in this mission. We are, in the building community, sorely lagging behind in our leadership in this arena in my humble opinion. That’s a mistake, for we have a significant responsibility as place makers to take charge in this…for our professions, for our communities, and for our clients. I believe that in working together, we can truly make a difference. My hope is that the NEXTbuilding Forum – this real time, accessible alliance– can greatly benefit our region as well as NARI and BRAG. If we are going to make a difference in this critically important direction, we need to do so while we still can. The "BHAG"... transform SE MI into a national leader in Sustainable Design and Building. Let's get to work!
Organization: The intent is to have a UN-type organization. Deliberately grass roots, we have no dues. We have no budget. We are a loose, all-volunteer group of like-minded and soon-to-be like-minded professionals. The organization is driven by the combined energy of its participants, who may float in and float out as they see merit in our alliance. We are allied with both BRAG and NARI of SE Michigan, and mutually support -and receive support - from both organizations.
Method: We present lectures, seminars, discussions, tours and other events that will be completely and totally free to all attendees. All that one need invest is one's valuable time. All that one need contribute is expertise…and heart.
